OfflineA friend living in Japan sent me two pencils that he uses. He says they cost about 8 cents each and they are about the best cheap pencil I have ever used - very smooth. The eraser is awful, but I rarely use the erasers on pencils.
Has anyone ever seen or heard of this pencil. My friend says it is from China; but maybe it is only sold in Japan.
Asians tend to like darker pencils which is why it is available. I like 2B pencils, and use some by Musgrave as my cheap ones. They have a testing pencil that is pretty smooth and dark also. I will say that I love the Palomino's much better, but for the price they are very good.
Check around for 2b pencils. I think you'll find some cheap ones that you like. The Golden Bears (2B) are nice (and at $.22 are also a very good deal).

i'm not asian, but i do like 2b pencils and darker. i just got a bundle of 12 NOS eberhard-faber 2b's that write very nicely. they came out to be a .33 cents per pencil, but i'm very happy with these.
amongts my fav are the Tombow Mono 3B and love the feel of the Faber Castell Grip 2001, but they are not .33 cents each.......
i'm now waiting on some Prospector's 2B, at .13 cents ea. will see how they perform.
