JLI welcomes you to our new drawing basics class format that includes the beginnings of the illustrated genre in cartoon and comic art. This quarter we will look at the creative works of the Walt Disney Studios and their enchanting library of VILLAINS.

JLI Manga Design: Spring Quarter 2011

JLI forwards Manga instruction with Manga Design, a intermediate course for artists versed in the basics of the illustration process. The learning centers around development of self created characters inspired by the manga and anime using the MANGA MATRIX process, drawing the moving form and concluding with an original, illustrated manga page. This quarter we will focus on the illustration and designs inspired by BLEACH. Join us on Wednesdays from 430-530.

JLI SPRING 2010: ANIME/MANGA BASICS

JLI showcases this graphic art genre in a series of workshops that introduce skills and techniques used in producing manga. Artists complete exercises based on reference of popular anime to develop and understanding of the human form, variations of the character such as chibi and mecha, illustration effects, and composition. This quarter we will enter the world of the "heartless" through the artwork of the popular video game "Kingdom Hearts". Join us on Fridays from 330-430.

Color Pencil Society of America

The Color Pencil Society of America is a organization dedicated to the promotion and development of artwork using color pencils. The CPSA is a very active society that supports artists working with colored pencil. It hase over 1600 members throughout the US and in 14 other countries organized into district chapters around the country and the world.

The Society hosts an annual International Exhibition and Convention, publishes regular newsletters and actively meets at the district level.
