JLI welcomes you to our new life drawing basics class format that includes the beginnings of the capturing the human form on paper. This quarter we will look at the characters of the Walt Disney Studios and the artwork of legendary animator and teacher, Walt Stanchfield, and his book "Drawn to Life".

JLI showcases this graphic art genre in a series of workshops that introduce skills and techniques used in producing manga. Artists complete exercises based on reference of popular anime to develop and understanding of the human form, variations of the character including animals, illustration effects including drawing fire, water, earth, and fire and composition. This quarter we will enter the world of the the 4 elements through the artwork of the popular Nickelodeon animated series and just released feature film "Avatar the Last Airbender". Join us on Fridays from 330-430.

Classic characters like Pinocchio, Bambi, and Captain Hook, will be drawn in a how-to format. By the end of quarter each artist will come away with skills including drawing characters with action lines, guidelines to drawing human and animal characters, and compositional storytelling rules.
